Job overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Band 3 Senior Healthcare Support Worker to join our friendly Pre-Operative Assessment Unit, here at Weston General Hospital!

We are looking for an individual who is eager to learn, has a kind and caring attitude towards patients, families and colleagues and who will be a positive team member.

Flexibility is key and the successful candidate would need to be available to work Monday – Friday.  The pre-op department is a nurse led unit and we see patients from every surgical specialty.

The post holder will be integral to the  efficient running of the pre assessment unit. The applicant should be adaptable,  highly motivated, flexible, forward thinking and have insight into the pre-op assessment process, with demonstrable excellent communication skills and able to work autonomously. A thorough pre-op is vital to ensure patients are as fit as they can be and optimised where possible for their scheduled surgery.

It is a busy unit and the focus is on high standards of patient care and team work and we look forward to welcoming an addition to the team.

Main duties of the job

The successful candidate will need good communication skills, demonstrating politeness, courtesy and sensitivity in providing compassionate care for patients and their relatives.

Practice safe standards following trust guidance to provide effective, holistic patient care. Including  awareness of normal ranges of vital signs and supporting patients through the clinic pathway.
