UHBW is undertaking an ambitious Programme of work to deliver a range of state-of-the-art clinical IT solutions across the Trust to fully digitize our patient record and provide Clinical staff with fast, simple and controlled access to patient data for clinical use in patient care and service optimization.

We are now looking for a Data Correction/Quality Officer to join the team to help us deliver on our ambitions as a Global Digital Exemplar to make UHBW one of the country’s leading digital hospitals within a health and care community that has embraced integrated digital working at a fundamental level.

The Clinical System Support Office is looking for an enthusiastic and motivated person who is willing to play an integral role in the implementation of data quality and provide a comprehensive Clinical Support Service for the Trust.

Main duties of the job

Job Purpose

To ensure Trust wide quality patient data within Medway for University Hospitals Bristol and Weston through:

·         Supporting the delivery of a Trust Wide Digital Services Data Correction and Data Quality programme

·         Conducting Data Corrections and Data Quality

·         Highlighting areas of poor Data Quality to the Clinical Systems Administration Manager/Clinical Systems Administration Team Leader in a timely manner

·         Being an advocate for Data Quality

The ideal candidate will have excellent interpersonal skills, self-motivated with a genuine passion for improving data. Excellent communication skills and close attention to detail are required for this customer facing role, you will need to be able to adapt to a very challenging workload and the need to prioritise and “think outside the box” as the work/users requirements demands, together with the ability to understand issues raised and manage them through to resolution.

Qualifications and Training

Essential criteria
  • Good standard of general education with particular strengths in English Language and Mathematics at GCSE Grade C or above or equivalent
  • Recognised computer/IT skills including knowledge of Microsoft applications
  • ECDL or equivalent

Knowledge and Experience

Essential criteria
  • Understanding the importance of confidentiality and data protection issues in a healthcare environment
  • Good working knowledge of Trust Systems
  • Experience of team working to achieve targets
Desirable criteria
  • Experience of working on the NHS
  • Experience of working in a process oriented environment dependant on accuracy and attention to detail

Skills and Abilities

Essential criteria
  • Excellent customer service skills for both internal and external users
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, frequently communicating with colleagues
  • Able to work independently on tasks and to work within a team
  • Planning and organising a number of tasks, activities, or programmes which can be straightforward/complex which require the adjustment of plans in day to day working
  • Good concentration skills with speed and accuracy of data processing
  • Computer literacy skills including use of MS office applications for Excel, Email, word processing etc
  • Good keyboard skills with the ability to update information quickly and accurately
  • Flexible attitude to ensure that optimum support is offered to the Service Leads and administrators in delivering services to patients
