Are you an excellent Communications and Engagement Lead and want to make a tangible difference to the lives of children and young people?

Come and join our compassionate and caring team in Buckinghamshire's Children and Young People's  (CYP) Therapy Service. The CYP Communications and Engagement Lead will be responsible for developing a proactive and integrated communications, marketing, and engagement strategy, incorporating internal and external communications, media relations, digital communications, and stakeholder engagement.

Main duties of the job

You will use your excellent communication skills, creative vision and strong project management skills to support service users to understand and co-produce our services with us. You will manage a small team of Link Therapy Workers who will support your programme of communications and engagement. You will engage with a range of stakeholders and demonstrate an inclusive approach to understanding a range of viewpoints. Through  writing and editing content on a range of platforms to a variety of audiences you will enable the service to reach a wide audience, with a focus on tackling health inequalities caused by access issues.

Education, Qualifications & Training

Essential criteria
  • Educated to degree level or equivalent – marketing or similar
  • Relevant post degree qualification plus masters/CPD equivalent (D)

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Significant experience and success in a similar work environment (local authority, healthcare, education) backed by evidence of appropriate level of expertise.
  • Experience of working in a communications environment
  • Experience of producing and implementing internal communications plans
  • Proven ability to communicate with, engage and influence different age groups and population groups
  • Experience of producing and developing a wide range of written and digital information - including commissioning print & design – attention to detail
  • Evidence of strong knowledge of communications methods to map stakeholders and identify appropriate communications channels
  • Experience of successful project management
  • Experience of managing communications to support internal change programmes
  • Experience of setting measurement criteria, evaluating performance and regular reporting
Desirable criteria
  • Experience of providing marketing and communications advice and practical support to individuals and teams
  • Experience of working within healthcare organisations or similar

Skills, Abilities and Knowledge

Essential criteria
  • Ability to communicate with sensitivity and respect around emotive health topics/experiences
  • Experience of setting measurement criteria, evaluating performance and regular reporting
  • Ability to facilitate engagement events for a range of audiences
  • Excellent written & verbal communicator and confident to converse accurately with ease
  • Excellent project management skills with ability to see projects through without supervision and to tight deadlines.
  • Experience of leading and developing communications and engagement skills to noncommunications staff
  • A team player, with a flexible approach
  • A forward looking strategic approach, prepared to generate innovative ideas and carry them forward
  • Resilient and professional manner with ability to remain calm under pressure

Special Circumstances

Essential criteria
  • Ability to meet flexible travel requirements (sometimes at short notice) between hospital sites and across county as required
  • Access to a car for work purposes
