An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Buckinghamshire Healthcare Trust Digital Team.  We are looking for 2 experienced registered clinicians to join the Digital Team as a Digital Clinical Specialist (CSO) . This is a key role in terms of delivering our Digital Health Programme which includes our Electronic Patient Record (EPR) programme for Buckinghamshire Healthcare Trust as an integrated Acute and Community Hospital

As a Digital Clinical Specialist (CSO),  you will have a vital role in ensuring digital transformation is undertaken as safely and effectively as possible. To succeed in this role you will have excellent interpersonal and leadership skills, in order to promote the role of clinical safety across cross-functional teams. You will work alongside a multi-disciplinary digital clinical team and be supported by the Chief Nursing Information Officer (CNIO).

The postholder is required to be a suitably qualified and experienced healthcare professional who holds and maintains current registration with an appropriate professional body relevant to their training and experience. Experience of working within a clinical safety role in an acute healthcare setting and knowledge of healthcare information technology systems is essential.

Main duties of the job

The Digital Clinical Specialist (CSO) will work as part of a dynamic Clinical Engagement Team. The post holder will have an extensive understanding of clinical safety and will be responsible for efficient and effective management of the Digital Clinical Safety on behalf of the Trust.

The role is responsible for providing leadership, guidance, support, specialist knowledge and clinical safety review and approval for the implementation of new digital solutions, upgrades and existing digital solutions across the Trust. This includes the assessment of clinical safety issues at all points in the procurement and implementation of IT software and hardware, including on-going management once transferred to live service and ensuring all digital solutions conform to relevant national standards for clinical safety

Person specification

Education, Qualification & Training

Essential criteria
  • Current clinical professional registered (e.g. NMC, GMC, GPhC or HCPC registration)
  • NHS clinical risk management foundation course (e-learning and face-to-face session), or equivalent
  • Degree, or equivalent level of experience, in a health-related subject
  • CSO accredited qualification
Desirable criteria
  • Master’s degree level or equivalent professional qualification or equivalent experience of working at a senior level in specialist area

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Extensive and up to date knowledge of nursing/AHP or other clinical, administrative and/or operational workflows and processes within a hospital environment
  • Extensive clinical experience in a secondary care setting
  • Understanding of issues relating to clinical system development and their deployment across the NHS
  • Knowledgeable in risk management and its application in the clinical domain
  • Technically able with sound knowledge of IM&T infrastructures, national priorities, policy and workstreams
  • Experience of leading complex organisational assessment processes knowledge and broad range of experience with risk management across clinical and technical IT fields including creation and maintenance of risk and issues logs
Desirable criteria
  • Detailed knowledge of the current national developments with the digital sphere within the NHS
  • Experience of setting up and implementing internal processes and procedures

Skills, Abilities & Knowledge

Essential criteria
  • Knowledge of clinical governance, audit processes/techniques and research methods and processes
  • Excellent writing and oral skills, including preparation of formal reports and training materials
Desirable criteria
  • An appreciation of the cultural, organisational, professional and technical changes that will impact on future healthcare technology implementation
  • Motivated and pro-active with own development
