Job overview

We have an exciting opportunity for a dynamic and motivated pharmacist to join our Integrated Medicine pharmacy team. We are looking to recruit to the post of  Advanced Endocrine Pharmacist who will play a pivotal role in leading, managing and further developing the pharmacy services provided to the division.

Responsible for leading, managing, delivering, planning and developing the clinical pharmaceutical services to the Integrated Medicine Division in liaison with the Pharmacy Team Lead – Integrated Medicine.

Main duties of the job

  • Prescribing in inpatient setting within integrated medicine for Endocrine (as required by the service).
  • To provide a consistently high pharmaceutical service to patients in line with the Trust corporate objectives and the NHS plan.
  • To provide leadership and training of the team that delivers this service to ensure service provided is to high standards.
  • To manage medicine related risks and ensure Trust Medicines policy and medicines legislation is complied with within the Integrated Medicine Division.
  • To be a senior member of the Pharmacy department.
  • To deputise for the Pharmacy Team Lead – Integrated Medicine when appropriate
  • To support and have delegated responsibility for the provision of the clinical pharmaceutical services to the Integrated Medicine Division seven days a week
  • To appraise, develop and performance manage band 6 and 7 pharmacists
  • To support the Trust financial objectives by providing financial analysis and advice in relation to medicines management to the Endocrine Services and the Pharmacy department.

Essential criteria
  • Registered Pharmacist: GPhC
  • Post-graduate diploma in clinical pharmacy or recognised equivalent
  • Independent Prescribing qualification
Desirable criteria
  • Member of the Royal Pharmaceutical Society
  • RPS faculty Stage II accreditation
  • Education qualification

EXPERIENCE eg Breadth of occupational experience

Essential criteria
  • significant hospital pharmacy at Post Registration Pharmacist level
  • Significant experience of delivery of pharmacy services to a broad range of specialties including medicines and surgery
  • Experience of delivery of clinical pharmacy service to a specialist level
  • Evidence of significant relevant Continuing Professional Development
  • Experience of project management
  • Experience of conducting service audits and the use of performance indicators
  • Experience of teaching and tutoring
  • Experience of training other pharmacy staff
  • Experience in pre-registration training
  • Experience of managing staff
Desirable criteria
  • Working as part of an MDT
  • experience within Endocrinology

SKILLS, ABILITIES & KNOWLEDGE

Essential criteria
  • Able to prioritise and manage own workload
  • Work, communicate and provide effective leadership
  • Clear, concise verbal, written communication to ensure liaison with multidisciplinary team, patients and carers and to ensure records are kept accurately and in a legible manner.
Desirable criteria
  • Prepared to attend any training sessions necessary for personal and service development
  • Work effectively within teams

SPECIAL CIRCUMSTANCES eg Ability to travel to other sites. Ability to work internal rotation
