Job overview

We are seeking a dedicated and organised Higher Level Support Worker to join our Pharmacy team at Stoke Mandeville Hospital. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in ensuring the efficient and effective delivery of pharmaceutical services within the Trust. This position requires attention to detail, excellent communication skills, and a commitment to maintaining the highest standards of professional practice.

Individuals with no prior pharmacy experience will be considered, as full training will be provided. 

This position requires the candidate to be committed to work towards (or have already achieved) a GPhC recognised qualification, GPhC recognised apprenticeship pathway, or a GPhC accredited training course following National Occupational Standard. Full training and course funding to be organised by the Trust.

EDUCATION, QUALIFICATIONS & TRAINING

Essential criteria
  • Sound educational background GCSE or equivalent OR Recent course attendance and qualification received
  • GPhC recognised qualification, GPhC recognised apprenticeship pathway, or a GPhC accredited training course following National Occupational Standards OR Willingness to work towards this

EXPERIENCE

Essential criteria
  • Previous experience of working in a hospital pharmacy or Community / licensed dispensing pharmacy within UK
Desirable criteria
  • Experience of managing stock or order processing

SKILLS, ABILITIES & KNOWLEDGE

  • Ability to work to SOPs accurately and in a timely fashion
  • To understand and be able to work within UK law governing the handling of medicines and supply
  • Ability to work in a calm fashion in a busy department with multiple interruptions
  • Accuracy/attention to detail
  • To have a positive attitude and the ability to recognise and embrace new ideas
  • Ability to work and communicate well within a team and to work alone
  • Ability to recognise limits of own competencies and to refer and seek advice from colleagues
