We are looking for a committed and energetic individual to join our team as a full time Band 4 Physiotherapy Clinical Support Worker in the inpatient Medicine for Older People service at Stoke Mandeville Hospital. This is an exciting opportunity for an individual who is passionate about delivering therapy to older people and neurological patients in the acute setting.  This role will suit someone who is motivated, compassionate, and keen to support patients to achieve their potential, in a fast-paced environment. The role is part of a well-established and supportive therapy team. The post is full time for 37.5 hours per week.

Previous experience of working as a physiotherapy assistant is desirable. Having good communication and team-working skills is essential. The post involves weekend working as part of the therapy weekend service.

 

Prif ddyletswyddau'r swydd

To be an integral member of the Medicine for Older People and Neuro Outliers Physiotherapy team, providing prompt assessment and delivery of therapeutic treatments to patients in liaison with senior Physiotherapy staff

To take responsibility for designated elements of the patient treatment protocols and delivery of such treatments in patients own home.  

To act as a technical resource to the Therapy department, in relation to the provision of mobility equipment.

 To document, evaluate and liaise with qualified Physiotherapists following interventions

 To be responsible for the completion and potential delegation of non-clinical tasks within the Medicine for Older People and Neuro Outliers Team and wider Physiotherapy teams.

  • Good level of education to GCSE standard. (at least 3 subjects)
  • Grade C GCSE or equivalent in English

  • NVQ level II or III in Health Care
  • Manual handling or First Aid qualification

EXPERIENCE

  • Able to accept and undertake responsibility for designated tasks
  • Previous work in health care environment and experience of patients with physical impairment
  • 6 months experience within a customer care (face to face) environment.

  • Previous work as a Therapy Assistant or allied profession

SKILLS, ABILITIES & KNOWLEDGE

  • Clear, concise verbal and written communication to ensure liaison with multi disciplinary team, patients and carers to ensure records and reports are accurate, legal and in legible manner (in English)
  • Demonstrate good organisational skills
  • Demonstrate insight into the importance of maintaining a safe working environment
  • Ability to learn / ability to self initiate learning (evidence within the last 2 years)
  • Able to work within a team setting
  • Able to maintain written communications / records
  • Evidence of self motivation and initiative
  • Awareness of health & safety issues and policies
  • Able to know own limitations and seek advice
  • Able to complete tasks set, follow instructions
  • Flexible and adaptable in approach to work
  • Full driving licence
  • Able to undertake manual handling tasks
  • Physical ability and endurance to work in the physical environment of the linical area required by this post
