 Pharmacy@Bucks is an innovative Outpatient Dispensing service that combines the knowledge of a community and a hospital Pharmacy to provide exemplary service to all our patients. Working in close partnership with the Buckinghamshire Healthcare NHS Trust (BHT), we thrive to provide a customer focused clinical service to all patients and Healthcare Professionals alike.

 All Outpatient Pharmacies across Amersham, Stoke Mandeville and High Wycombe are run by Buckinghamshire Health Projects Ltd (BHPL), a wholly owned subsidiary of Buckinghamshire Healthcare NHS Trust. Pharmacy@Bucks provides dispensing services from outpatients prescriptions issued by BHT and advice to BHT staff and visitors, with the option to provide OTC medicines in the near future.

 

Main duties of the job

Since the start of Pharmacy@Bucks, we have seen the professional development of our keen colleagues, ranging from Pharmacy Technicians to Pharmacist Managers and Lead Pharmacists.  This unique role offers the chance to be part of a growing team enabling you to develop your clinical knowledge in a fast-paced environment, whilst providing customer-focused clinical service to patients. This role is perfect for an ambitious Pharmacist who has a passion to develop clinical knowledge and build strong relationships with various healthcare professionals and looking for flexible working.

The successful candidate must have successfully completed and possess a MPharm degree or equivalent and be registered with General Pharmacy Council in UK.

Salary

Highly competitive salary ranging from £46,720 to £ 54,000 pro rata. Equivalent to a NHS band 7-8a.

 Working Hours

30-hour flexible contract. Other part time contract hours may be considered for the right candidate.

  • Training and development to support internal career growth and funding for PG Diploma and Independent Pharmacist prescriber course, after 18 months of employment through a learner contract.

Person specification

Education, Professional Qualifications & Training

Essential criteria
  • Master’s degree in pharmacy or equivalent
  • Registration as a pharmacist with the General Pharmaceutical Council
  • Member of the Royal Pharmaceutical Society
Desirable criteria
  • Appropriate short management courses

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Post-registration experience as a Responsible pharmacist in a busy community Pharmacy or a hospital pharmacy. Newly qualified successful applicants will be given extensive on the job training
  • Experience as a qualified pharmacist in various settings and roles including day to day management of a pharmacy
  • Experience in delivering training and education for other pharmacy staff
  • Experience in managing a team in a busy dispensing environment.
  • Have extensive skills in counselling patients and representatives
Desirable criteria
  • Experience in an Outpatient hospital pharmacy
  • Experience of being a part of a vibrant team in developing a business or new service
  • Experience in providing pharmacy services through PGDs such as influenza vaccinations or Pharmacy First etc

Information Technology

Essential criteria
  • Excellent ability in using basic Microsoft Office applications including Microsoft Word and Excel.
Desirable criteria
  • Experience in using the JAC medicine management system.

Knowledge

Essential criteria
  • Understanding of local Trust and national Guidelines.
  • Extensive knowledge of the legislation and guidance relating to the management of medicines
Desirable criteria
  • Understanding of Primary and Secondary Care prescribing principles.
  • •Be able to utilise the local Trust Formulary and use this to make a clinical decision.
