The post holder is responsible for the care and acute management of the hyper acute stroke patient using the agreed stroke pathway, including assessing patients in the cardiac and stroke receiving unit (CSRU) for thrombolysis and thrombectomy

The post holder carries continuing responsibility for the assessment of care needs, the development, implementation and evaluation of programmes of care, and the setting of standards. The post holder will provide specialist nursing care and advice for hyper acute/acute stroke patients, maintaining a high standard of nursing care within the framework of Trust policies.

The post holder is designated to regularly take charge of the ward and provide effective, professional and managerial leadership to all staff in the absence of the Ward Manager.

The post holder will teach and supervise qualified and unqualified staff, including basic and/or post basic students, back to nursing students and health care assistants.

The post holder will be expected to work as part of a 24/7 rota delivering hyper acute stroke care, including within CSRU.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced nurse to join the  Stroke Unit Team at Wycombe Hospital. The successful candidate will provide a nursing lead in the assessment of stroke patients in the cardiac and stroke receiving unit for thrombolysis and thrombectomy, be a clinical lead on the ward and be part of a multi professional team providing a 24/7 service.

The candidate will be required to work  to help facilitate patient flow and achieve the standards set within the National Clinical guidelines for stroke.

We require a registered Nurse with significant experience in Stroke services and with knowledge of clinical audit.

Candidates must have evidence of continuing professional development in clinical practice within the last 12 months. This should include stroke specific education. The candidate must have some insight into current nursing/professional issues and standards of professional practice. Must be patient focused, flexible, adaptable and capable of thinking laterally.
