We have a 1 year fixed term posts available for a Vascular Nursing Associate.

 The vascular service in Buckinghamshire Healthcare Trust is run as a Hub and Spoke model in conjunction with the John Radcliffe Hospital and The Royal Berkshire Hospital as part of the Thames Valley Vascular Network. 

Nursing Associates support the provision of holistic, person-centred care. Support for all ages (not paediatric) across the lifespan and in a variety of settings. The nursing associate works independently – within the remit of the role – to assess, plan, implement and evaluate care, alongside the Vascular Specialist nurses. Undertaking aspects of care delegated by the Vascular Specialist Nurses and other members of the Vascular Team.

The nursing associate has a breadth of knowledge across the “four pillars” of nursing practice. Clinical Practice, Facilitating Learning, Leadership and Research/Audit awareness

Prif ddyletswyddau'r swydd

·       Provide compassionate, safe and effective care and support to people in a Vascular Clinics and on wards as part of a ward round with the Vascular Team.

·       Support the Band 6 and Band 7 Vascular Nurses within the clinic setting and on ward rounds by helping with removal and application of dressings

·       Assist the Vascular nursing team with patient administration.

·       Be flexible in responding the needs of the patients within clinic and act accordingly within their scope of practice.

·       Assist with basic patient education within clinic, giving patient information leaflets as required.

·       Once trained to apply compression bandages on instruction from a Senior Vascular Team member.

·       Care of patients undergoing local anaesthetic day case procedure. Ensuring safe admission procedure is carried out and care of the patient post procedure. Discharging the patient with the guidance of the Vascular Consultant, Vascular Surgical Care Practitioner or Vascular Nurse; ensuring post operative instructions are given and relevant patient information leaflet.

·       Contribute to ongoing assessment of patients, recognising when it is necessary to refer and escalate to a Registered Nurse for reassessment
