Job overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a dynamic, enthusiastic Band 6 Midwife to join our team within the Antenatal clinic at Buckinghamshire NHS Trust.   This role will have a focus within the antenatal clinic across both sites and providing support to our day assessment unit.

The successful applicant will be motivated, passionate and dedicated to providing high quality women-centred care.  

You will work collaboratively within our multidisciplinary team supporting woman and their families through their pregnancy journey.

Your experience will ensure that you provide a high standard of care to our mothers and their families.  As a member of our team you will be professional, reliable, safe and compassionate and have excellent communication skills and a progressive attitude to the continual improvement of patient care through evidence based practice. 

Hours will be based across sites at Stoke Mandeville and Wycombe Hospitals.  The Service is open between 8-6 pm Monday – Sunday and the successful applicant will undertake a variety of shifts between these opening times to ensure clinics are covered. 

This position is recruited on a rotational basis which may require the post holder to work in all areas of maternity and cover all shifts.

Main duties of the job

The antenatal clinic sees patients through various specialist clinics and as an antenatal clinic midwife, you will provide support to ensure that patients have a smooth pathway through their clinic appointments, ensuring they are kept fully informed and are provided safe, quality care.  You will also support the Day Assessment Unit with providing care to women for both planned and unplanned visits

SKILLS, ABILITIES & KNOWLEDGE

Essential criteria
  • Clinical skills, in particular:Suturing , Cannulation, Supervision of epidural infusion
  • Ability to write clearly and legibly in English
  • Knowledge of NMC Code of Conduct, Guidelines and Professional Practice
  • Awareness and knowledge of vulnerable adult and child Protection issues
  • Computer literate
  • Knowledge of evidence informed and research based practice
  • Professional appearance and behavious
  • Good communicator both verbally and in writing
