Job overview
Applications are invited for a Clinical Fellow (Core) in Breast Surgery for a period of 12 months to commence from 22 July 2024.
The Cambridge Breast Unit provides multidisciplinary and comprehensive care in the management of a full range of benign and malignant breast disease and is a tertiary referral centre for flap-based reconstructive procedures.
Main duties of the job
In order to be considered applicants must meet the essential criteria outlined in the person specification.
The post holder will support new one-stop diagnostic and follow up breast clinics, provide assistance in theatre, participate in pre-operative and post-operative ward rounds and day to day running of the Surgical Breast Unit (including medical administration). In addition, the post holder will also be expected to attend twice weekly MDT and participate in MDT team working.
Please note that this post does not carry Postgraduate Dean’s approval or training recognition.
Full Registration and a Licence to Practice with the General Medical Council at point of application is required.
Minimum of 12 months NHS experience employed at foundation level or above.
This post may be suitable for those wishing to undertake an “F3” role.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
The post holder will join a highly motivated multidisciplinary breast cancer team committed to high quality care. This will involve all aspects of surgical and oncological breast cancer management in a consultant led service. The Unit manages approximately 500 breast cancers annually of which approximately one- third are screen-detected as part of the units screening programme.
