Clinical Trials Data Manager

Job overview

Due to the growth of our team, we are looking to recruit a Data Manager to support the work of the Aerodigestive, Hepatobiliary and Head and Neck Clinical Trials Team within the Cambridge Cancer Trials Centre (CCTC).

The Data Manager will work alongside research nurses and clinical research practitioners, working on a wide range of oncology trials, both commercial and non-commercial. We are looking for candidates with strong IT and communication skills to be able to enter clinical trials data into a variety of databases, and to liaise within the multi-disciplinary team effectively.

The ideal candidate will be a clear communicator, with good attention to detail, and the ability to enter data with accuracy.

Please note, this role is not a data analyst position, and applicants will need to demonstrate a clear understanding of what the role is when submitting their application.

Main duties of the job

To assist an experienced multi-disciplinary team running clinical trials, with specific responsibility for the management of the day to day data collection. You will be responsible for the submission of data for trials using a variety of data capture tools. You will use effective communication with external agencies and internal teams to ensure the accuracy and completeness of data submitted.

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Educated to degree level or NVQ level 4 or equivalent in a biological, physical, social or related scientific discipline OR Equivalent experience in oncology clinical trials data management
Desirable criteria
  • Evidence of continuing professional development in research

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Worked in the NHS or other similar biological / scientific discipline
  • Research Data Collection experience within an NHS/ biological / scientific discipline
  • Experience of liaison with staff across all levels within the NHS/Universities/Industry
  • Experience of dealing with difficult situations and confrontations
  • Experience of working autonomously within guidelines and deadlines
  • Experience of prioritising, planning and organising own tasks
  • Experience of liaison with external agencies
  • Experience of using patient management tools for research
Desirable criteria
  • Experience of working in Cancer
  • Experience of audit
  • Familiarity with EPIC
  • Participation at Site Initiation Visits
  • Experience with using databases
  • Experience in producing and presenting reports
  • Experience of mentoring, facilitating or training
  • Experience of using schedules of assessments within research protocols to determine trial participant requirements
