Quality Improvement Lead

This is an exciting opportunity to lead on quality improvement delivery within critical care.  You will oversee and support all quality improvement projects that are being carried out within both NCCU and D3/D4. You will need a good understanding of QI approaches and models of change. You will work with the Education Lead and Matrons to address gaps in evidence base practice and key issues raised through QSIS. The roles aim is to engage all staff in QI and to raise the profile of critical thinking and questioning in practice. 

This is a 12 month fixed term/secondment opportunity.

Lead the development and delivery of innovative approaches to critical care quality improvement (QI).

To work across Critical care areas contributing to the development of QI activities as a specialist resource.

Lead the delivery of nursing/AHP QI strategy within critical care.

To promote the work-based and academic learning of nursing staff through education and QI initiatives.

Promote the development and implementation of evidence based nursing practice.

To work in the clinical environment across critical care and to facilitate at clinical level, a continuous process of critically evaluating and improving service provision, ensuring effective patient focused care through promoting QI.

Act as a link with staff from other areas to share knowledge, best practice and clinical expertise.

This post carries a requirement to teach within a clinical setting and contribute to clinical care as service needs require.

  • Post graduate critical care course – 60 credits
  • Evidence of evidence of relevant on-going professional development in research.

  • Working towards a MSc
  • Management or leadership qualification.

Experience

  • QI experience or Research Projects
  • Collected data for QI project either national or local.
  • Expereince working in critical care in the last 12 months as a band 6.
  • Experience of mentorship pre & post registration mentoring.
  • Evidence of leadership, management and/or team development.
  • Project management experience

  • Experience in critical care QI/research
  • Experience of lecturing/presenting. Running journal clubs or QI projects.
  • Experience writing reports and presenting findings.

Knowledge

  • Expert clinical knowledge in critical care.

  • Ability to integrate education/professional needs with the needs of the service. Supporting research change models such as PDSA.
  • Knowledge of reflective practice in learning.

  • Ability to evaluate effectiveness of learning and research in the clinical environment.
  • Understanding of the wider nursing agenda including local, Trust and national issues related to Research. Knowledge of the Trust Research strategy.
