The East Genomic Laboratory Hub (East GLH) is one of seven hubs in the Genomic Medicine Service. The East GLH is based on the Cambridge Biomedical Campus, the largest biomedical research campus in Europe; home to two NHS flagship trusts, multiple world-class research institutes, the University of Cambridge Medical School and a thriving biopharma ecosystem. CUH is investing in leading specialised services across the region – including building new Children’s and Cancer hospitals – and fostering innovation in health science and medical research.

Delivering Cancer Genomics testing to 31 NHS Trusts, serving over 9m people, is complex and challenging. The Cambridge Genomics Laboratory is therefore pleased to be recruiting experienced Clinical Scientists who can work in Solid Cancer.

The Cambridge Genomics Laboratory is the lead laboratory of the East GLH. It is a busy workplace undergoing transformation. You will be able to analyse and report complex information to provide clinically relevant and timely reports to requesting clinicians.

You will join a dynamic establishment that is keenly developing its staff, making a real difference to patients who are benefitting from the latest genomic testing technology.

1. Analyse a range of solid cancer tests, including NGS panels and whole genome sequencing
2. Somatic variant interpretation
3. Deliver and maintain a high-quality diagnostic service to regional oncology services
4. Provide advice to clinicians and colleagues
5. Ensure the continuous improvement and development of laboratory services
6. Ensure the continued ISO:15189 compliance of the laboratory using the quality management system
7. Data and variant interpretation checking, and authorisation of solid cancer testing reports
8. Liaise with clinical teams and communicate results at Genomics Tumour Advisory Board meetings
9. Assist with Healthcare Scientist recruitment, training and supporting continual personal development
