Sister/Charge Nurse - Acute Haematology Ward

Ward U3 is looking for a full-time Sister/Charge Nurse to join our busy, friendly Specialist Team.

Our new U3 Haematology ward, featuring 30 beds, is set to revolutionise patient care in Haematology/Oncology patients. We deliver a wide range of therapies and Specialist care and offer exciting training opportunities.

You will assist the Senior Sister/Charge Nurse in the overall management of the Ward; ensure patients are provided with safe, individualised, holistic and evidence-based care and provide leadership to all members of the ward promoting effective teamwork.

This post involves a full range of shifts, including nights and weekends. You will also be required to hold a divisional bleep.

Experience in looking after cancer patients is essential.

  • Experience of shift/ward management in the absence of senior colleagues

Knowledge

  • NMC Code of Conduct and guidelines for professional practice
  • Sound theoretical and practical knowledge of nursing care within the clinical area (haemato/oncology)
  • Knowledge of care of the BMT patient
  • Awareness of need to demonstrate a professional appearance and behaviours
  • An understanding of the professional nursing agenda.

  • Re-infusion of cell therapy
