An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Mammographer to join our multi-disciplinary team at Cambridge Breast Unit.
The service delivers both breast screening and symptomatic mammography. The Cambridge Breast Unit uses fully digital mammography with three mammography rooms, all being tomosynthesis systems.
We perform a range of examinations and interventional procedures such as vacuum assisted biopsy. In addition, we have two mobile screening units to provide the important primary screening to the Cambridgeshire area.
As a Mammographer in the Cambridge Breast Unit, you will be part of a dedicated team providing a high-quality patient-centred Mammography Service.

You will start as a Band 5 Trainee Mammographer until qualified and all competencies have been completed.
Main duties of the job
- To produce a consistently high standard of images.To ensure the patient is at the centre of all we do and maintain a high level of client/patient care ensuring an efficient service is maintained at all times.
- To operate in all locations including mobile screening vans and be involved in all aspects of screening and symptomatic work.
- Participate in NBSS image review.
- The unit also has close affiliations with the Cambridge Breast Cancer Research Unit which may provide opportunities for role extension into research and audit in the future.
- To provide highly skilled and specialised Mammography within a symptomatic and screening setting.
- Producing mammograms to optimum diagnostic quality.
- Communicating effectively and efficiently with team members and liaising with other disciplinary teams.
- Keeping accurate records and updating records when needed.
- Ensuring a high standard of patient care is maintained throughout.
- Excellent communication skills and be able to communicate effectively with patients, their families and health professionals.
- Be able to problem solve and ensure the daily Clinics run smoothly.

Band 5: £28,407 - £34,581 p.a. pro rata
Band 6: £35,392 - £42,618 p.a. pro rata

Qualifications
Essential criteria
- DCR BSc Hons or equivalent
- HCPC registered radiographer
- Post graduate award in mammography
Experience
Essential criteria
- Experience in practical radiography
- Have previous experience in symptomatic and screening mammography
Knowledge
Essential criteria
- Have previous knowledge of symptomatic and screening mammography
- An understanding of Quality Control and Quality Assurance
Desirable criteria
- EPIC experience
Skills
Essential criteria
- Good communication and interpersonal skills
