Are you ready to take the next step in Pharmacy leadership?  We are looking for a Registered Pharmacy Technician who is highly capable, motivated and ambitious to contribute to the safe and effective purchase of medicines and the management of the Pharmacy Stores Team.

You will be part of a dedicated team, committed to improving patient care through effective medicines procurement and supply. You must have extensive experience of hospital Pharmacy within the Stores and Procurement setting or previous experience of managing a dynamic team.

Your leadership skills and expertise will help to shape the future of the purchasing and supply function of the store to include automation and service improvement. To help us achieve this, you must be able to demonstrate core leadership and organisational skills as well as the ability to inspire and motivate others in the team.

Prif ddyletswyddau'r swydd

  • Responsible for ensuring delivery of the operations and logistics of the purchasing, invoicing, stores and distribution services of the pharmacy department.
  • Lead, develop and maintain a working environment which encourages team work, mutual support and excellence in service delivery and reduces risks to a minimum.
  • Responsible for driving operational efficiencies within the pharmacy purchasing, invoicing, stores and distribution services.
  • Ensure the correct information is input with regard medicine contracts onto the pharmacy computer systems to ensure the Trust is purchasing the correct contract line from the correct supplier at the correct contract price.
  • Assist in ensuring the Pharmacy Stores and Distribution service and all the staff who work in those areas comply with the terms of the Wholesaler dealers’ license granted by the MHRA / Good Distribution Practice.
  • Ensures all standard operating procedures reflect current practice, are maintained and updated as appropriate in line with governance requirements, and are implemented.

Qualifications

  • Registration with General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC).
  • Minimum qualification NVQ3 Pharmacy Services, BTEC Pharmaceutical Science or CGLI/Apothecaries Hall pre 1985 certificates or equivalent.
  • Post graduate certificate in Purchasing or management or a related area or a portfolio demonstrating equivalent through experience and relevant short courses taught at postgraduate level.

  • Association of Pharmacy Technicians (APTUK).
  • PRINCE 2 or formal project management qualification.
  • Recruitment and selection training.
  • Performance management training.

Experience

  • Hospital pharmacy experience or equivalent relevant area of practice.
  • Experience of working in medicines procurement.
  • Experience of working in pharmacy distribution and purchasing related area.
  • Experience of stock control management.
  • Experience of pharmacy computer systems for ordering, invoicing, stock control and manage pharmaceuticals.
  • Working in a customer-focused environment.
  • Experience of managing teams.
  • Experience of line management.
  • Experience of undertaking audits.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) to create documents and spread sheets and extract information.
  • Experience of recruitment and selection processes.

  • Cost Improvement Plans.
  • Experience of working with senior healthcare professionals outside of Pharmacy within the Trust.

  • Experience of staff training and supervision.
  • Ability to use pharmacy database systems.

  • Communicate complex and sensitive information on pharmaceutical purchasing and pricing issues with NHS supplies and Procurement staff and those from Finance.
  • Use presentational aids.
  • Communicate effectively in both written and verbal formats.
  • Analyse highly complex information relating to drug pricing and contracting issues.
  • Make sound judgments.
  • Be flexible in responding to demands of the service.
  • Concentrate on complex matters (drug ordering, invoice approval, updating of drug files, drug query answering, clinical prescription review, checking of dispensed prescriptions) despite frequent interruptions.
  • Be methodical in approach.
  • Have experience of disciplinary matters and be able to impart results from them to staff in an appropriate and considered manner.
  • IT skills (Microsoft Word, Excel).
  • Ability to work as part of a team and to contribute to team meetings.
  • Ability to organise project work and meet deadlines /targets.
