The Radiotherapy Department currently has vacancies for Band 7 Therapy Radiographers, 2 of these are for a years maternity leave cover. These are full time posts, but part time hours may be considered.

This would be ideal for anyone wishing to develop both personally and professionally in our busy and forward thinking radiotherapy department. Ideally you should be able to demonstrate experience on a variety of treatment units and clinical areas and show a degree of leadership.

We currently have two Elekta linear accelerators, two Tomotherapy units and 2 Varian Trubeam units, with  dedicated SRS platforms, all interfaced with Mosaiq in a paperless environment. Currently, in our remaining 2 bunkers we are having 2 new Varian linacs installed, aiming to be clinical late summer 2024.

Rotations through the department  also include our superficial and Gynae HDR suit.

The pre-treatment section comprises of two Canon wide bore CT scanners linked to Raystation planning system.

You would rotate through all of the above. You must be HCPC registered, possess a BSc (Hons) in Radiotherapy or equivalent and be fully flexible with shift requirements. Due to the variable nature of the work, you will be required to cover early and late shifts and possible weekend shifts, as appropriate.

To be responsible for day to day management of Treatment Unit / Pre-treatment area, ensuring accurate and safe planning / delivery of treatment to patients. You will also be expected to rotate onto the HDR / Orthovoltage Unit.

To provide support and information to the cancer patient and their carers.

To provide clinical education to all trainee staff within in the department.

  • Research methodologies

Experience

  • Substantial experience in radiotherapy delivery, on treatment imaging, Pre-treatment including dosimetry
  • Informal teaching and training of a variety of healthcare professionals
  • Experience of Staff management

  • Significant experience at Band 6 or Band 7
  • Experience of research and audit

Knowledge

  • Knowledge of principles and practice of radiotherapy and oncology

  • Knowledge of and use of different information sources
  • Knowledge and application of national regulations relating to ionising radiation for medical exposure (IR(ME)R)
  • Knowledge and application of regulations related to obtaining informed consent
