The role is part of the wider picture to provide the best educational experience for medical students. In doing so we are supporting our future generation of doctors to become safe, kind and excellent.
Our team really believe our purpose is in ensuring we improve and help maintain standards of care for our patients. Each one of us has a part to play in this case. The senior tutor will help co-ordinate the curriculum and support the CCS lead to deliver the educational requirements of the CCS strand
Main duties of the job
As a senior communications tutor, you will be responsible for 9 main duties:
- Educator/trainer packs
- Teaching communication skills
- Training for facilitators
- Providing support to students
- Faculty for MB Examinations
- Other/Expert clinical knowledge
- Management
- Research and Audit
- General Compliance

Essential criteria
- Registered Nurse/Health Professional educated to Degree level
- Evidence of continuous professional development
- Teaching qualification.
- Advanced communication skills/counselling qualification
Desirable criteria
- Research Module.
- Masters Degree
- Leadership/management qualification
Experience
Essential criteria
- Significant relevant clinical experience at senior level
- Significant experience of formal & informal communication skills facilitation/teaching: small group/large group/experiential & lecture styles
- Experience of leading and implementing change
Desirable criteria
- Experience of multi-disciplinary teaching
- Contributes to the development of clinical communication skills training at national/international level
Knowledge
Essential criteria
- Understanding of evidence-based practice, teaching & training methodologies
- Understanding of evidence-based clinical communication skills
- Understanding of Clinical Governance.
