Healthcare Support Worker - Pre-Assessment Unit

Band 3

Trosolwg o'r swydd

We are looking for a dynamic and hardworking band 3 HCA to add to our team, to assist in the efficient running of the pre-assessment clinic. Our clinic is designed to help optimise and improve patient’s health before surgery. We review most surgical specialities, and have patients of varying age, and complexity.

Pre assessment is a busy clinic, and we review multiple outpatients over the course of the day. Our core hours are 8am-6pm Monday to Friday and 8am-4pm every other Saturday.

Prif ddyletswyddau'r swydd

The main responsibilities would be triaging clinic patients prior to review by the specialist nursing team. This includes taking a height, weight, blood pressure, pulse, oxygen levels, MRSA swabs and urine samples. Once competent in ECG training, you would be taking turns to run your own returns clinic. These patients have already been assessed by a nurse but require pre op tests such as ECG, MRSA swabs and urines.

Care and compassion is vital when interacting with our elderly patients. We would expect our HCA’s to be able to assist with transferring patients with restricted mobility – E.G pushing a wheelchair to a clinic room, or another department. We would also require our HCA’s to assist with basic hygiene needs when patients are not entirely self-caring, and ensure patients waiting for transport have adequate diet and fluids.
