Epic Application Analyst - Beaker

Band 6

Job overview

Cambridge University Hospitals is the first UK hospital to implement the Epic electronic patient record (EPR) system and an opportunity has come up to be part of the team responsible for the Pathology (Beaker) module of the Epic EPR.

This is an exciting and challenging role, at the heart of the transformation of clinical services providing high-quality care supported by a world class electronic patient record system.

You will be provided with training to achieve accreditation in the Beaker Epic module.

We welcome applications from individuals whom have strong technical and analytical capabilities, enjoy problem solving, and understand the nature of modular work in large and complex organisations. We also welcome applicants with strong clinical and operational knowledge.

Main duties of the job

In this role, you will take responsibility for the design integrity of the Beaker module (Lab information management system), working closely with the clinical team and the surrounding eHospital team. You will support and lead configuration requests,  working with clinicians and admin staff in specific departments or specialties to review workflows and standards already built into the electronic patient record (EPR) and facilitate agreement for future development and optimisation.

You will be required to adapt and design the system solution to meet the specification of others and will be responsible for the operational aspects of one or more modules of the Epic system.

You will be required to communicate complex technical concepts to a non-technical audience. In particular you will need to develop and deliver complex technical and process concepts to large groups of internal and external senior clinical and management staff.

You will work with operational and clinical staff to develop training and local support strategies to enable staff to realise the benefits from Epic.
