Applications are invited for the post of Senior Clinical Fellow in Neurosciences and Trauma Intensive Care Medicine at Addenbrookes Hospital, part of Cambridge University Hospital NHS Foundation Trust. 

This post is available from 05 February 2025 for a period of 12 months.

The post offers the opportunity to develop expertise in neurosciences and trauma intensive care medicine at peri-consultant level. 

Please note that these posts do not carry Postgraduate Dean’s approval or training recognition.

Full Registration and a Licence to Practice with the General Medical Council at time of application is required and and the successful candidate will ideally have a CCT in Intensive Care Medicine (with or without an allied speciality) or be within six months award of CCT at the time of interview.

The applicant must have demonstrable skills in listening, reading, writing and speaking in English that enable effective communication about medical topics with patients and colleagues, as set out in the GMC’s Good Medical Practice (2013). Non-UK applicants must possess the IELTS/OET exam before obtaining a GMC licence to practice.

Successful candidates will join a world leading team within the Neurosciences and Trauma Critical Care Unit (NCCU). NCCU provides critical care to victims of major trauma and to patients with complex neurosurgical and neurological disease. 

Addenbrooke’s Hospital is the Major Trauma Centre for the East of England, serving a population of around 6.4 million people. This thriving, modern teaching hospital is the local hospital for people living in the Cambridge area and is the regional referral centre for a number of specialties, including neurosurgery, cancer surgery, transplantation, plastic surgery, vascular and paediatrics. Addenbrooke’s offers unparalleled capacity for teaching, including involvement in the high fidelity simulation centre, and research within the department as well as the wider biomedical campus.

The NCCU medical establishment consists of 14 consultants (including 2 SCFs), 24 junior doctors, 2 foundation doctors, and 2 advanced critical care practitioners.

Provisional job plans to a split between clinical activity on NCCU and a research, quality improvement, or educational project in line with the successful applicant’s interests and is designed to develop responsibility at consultant level working.
