Job overview
We wish to appoint an enthusiastic and experienced Personal Assistant/Secretary to join our Emergency Department Team.
We are looking for a candidate with excellent organisational skills and communication skills and who can work well under pressure.
You must be able to work well within a team and be able to manage and organise your own workload, prioritising and delegating work as necessary.
You will provide a comprehensive PA and secretarial service to the Emergency Medicine Consultants, the Matrons and the Operational Team within Urgent & Emergency Care, Division C.
We are looking for someone to enhance our positive approach to our working environment and who can work flexibly depending on requirements.
Main duties of the job
To provide a first class PA/Secretarial service to various senior managers/clinical staff.
Attributes required to include: High levels of professionalism, discretion and confidentiality, calmness under pressure and a friendly approachable style. The candidate will be highly literate, with exceptional attention to detail, and furthermore, will be able to effectively prioritise numerous tasks whilst working under pressure to achieve tight deadlines.

Qualifications
Essential criteria
- Educated to A level or NVQ level 3 Customer Service/ Business Admin /ITQ or equivalent.
- Typing qualification or equivalent experience
- Specific technical/professional qualification
Desirable criteria
- Secretary qualification or equivalent.
Experience
Essential criteria
- Experience of working in a busy clerical/office environment or reception Service.
- Secretarial and /or administrative experience including minute taking.
- Prioritising, planning and organising own tasks.
- Working within guidelines.
- Experience of dealing with difficult situations and confrontations.
- Data entry experience and documentation.
- Experience of IT packages – Microsoft office
- Experience of producing documents to a high standard.
Desirable criteria
- Previous NHS experience
- Previous experience of working with medical records.
Knowledge
Essential criteria
- Sound knowledge of office procedures
- Understanding of confidentiality/data protection issues
- Understanding of customer service.

- Good working knowledge of EPIC
- Knowledge of medical terminology
