The Paediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU/HDU) is a tertiary level 13-bedded PICU. It is the only PICU in the East of England region and it is a PICM Grid Training unit, well known as a centre of excellence, a stronghold in research, trials and neuroscience. Trainees from other specialties who want to boost their paediatric critical care experience rotate to this unit with great feedback and many learning opportunities.
PaNDR is a newly established service that serves the region of East of England (EoE). This Service is co-located with the existing Neonatal Service based at Addenbrookes Hospital and serves 15 large non-paediatric specialist district general hospitals in addition to Addenbrookes Hospital. PaNDR had nearly had (1100) referrals between April 202 and April 2023, of which close to (500) acute retrievals were completed. The service is fully equipped with 4 high fidelity Ambulances and fully staffed with qualified ambulance technicians.
