We are seeking to recruit a Matron for the children’s service, within the Women and Children Division (Division E). The post offers many opportunities to develop and shape the service, in addition to contributing to the senior nursing management across Children’s Services. As a professional lead in this service you will be expected to demonstrate excellent communication and organisational skills as well as leading and influencing change. You will be motivated to make a positive difference to the child and family experience, maximising effective patient pathways and flow.
Main duties of the job
Reporting to the Head of Nursing for children’s services you will ensure partnership working across teams in promoting service development for future development of the Cambridge Children’s Hospital.
You will be visible and supportive to the team’s and empower them to develop. As a senior nurse you will be involved in ensuring service standards and guidance are achieved.
Working alongside the multidisciplinary team you will be responsible for coordinating a comprehensive, integrated, service. You will provide specialist clinical skills and leadership and will liaise with all relevant professional groups and agencies within and outside the Trust to enhance the delivery of care to children, young people and families, providing guidance, support and advice

Qualifications
Essential criteria
- RN (Part 8 or 15).
- Relevant post registration nursing qualification.
- Evidence of Continuous Professional Development (Graduate or equivalent)
- Management Qualification.
- Masters qualification or willingness to work toward.
Desirable criteria
- Post graduate qualification.
- Attendance on a Leadership development programme.
Experience
Essential criteria
- Significant experience of management of clinical area/service.
- Line management.
- Experienced in managing budgetary resources across a service.
- Significant experience in change management.
- Success in working collaboratively across professions and services.
Desirable criteria
- Developing evidence based practice.
Knowledge
Essential criteria
- Evidence of demonstrable knowledge of management development and nursing policy and practice development.
- Sound knowledge of relevant specialist children’s standards and commitment to networking.
