Job overview

The Cambridge Biomedical Campus is one of the largest biomedical campuses in Europe and we are a leading national centre for specialist treatments. We are only one of six academic health science centres in the UK. The Research and Development (R&D) office and Biomedical Research Centre (BRC) underpin all research across the campus and are proud to support world-leading experimental and translation medicine.  

 

Main duties of the job

The purpose of this dual facing role is to manage the administration and operational aspects of the BRC and R&D office. The post-holder must maintain an effective and efficient administration service which satisfies the internal and external requirements of the R&D Department. This will be achieved by a) assisting the BRC executive team with a wide range of office management duties b) supporting the director of research, assistant director and theme leads to ensure the BRC meets its quality, activity and financial targets, c) ensuring the day to day smooth running of the R&D department and d) managing the R&D administration team.

  • Educated to degree level or equivalent experience
  • Evidence of continuing development
  • Project Management – Prince II or equivalent
Desirable criteria
  • GCP Trained

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Experience of working in a complex environment, within a organisational/operational post
  • Experience in organising data, documents and records
  • Experience in organising international conferences
  • Experience of project management
  • Ability to communicate at all levels
  • Previous experience at managing staff
  • Experience in budget management
Desirable criteria
  • Experience of working within a clinical research setting
  • Experience of working in a research environment (NHS, University or industry)

Knowledge

  • Ability to undertake projects without guidance or supervision
  • Effective budget management
  • Post holder will be required to keep abreast with the Trust procedures in order to carry out their role.
  • Attend conferences and workshops related to the post.
