Post 2 & 3: Clinical Fellow (Core) in Trauma and Orthopaedics (Based in CMSH)

These posts are available to commence ASAP until 05/08/2025. 

As the regional referral centre and Level 1 Major Trauma Centre, we offer a full range of adult and paediatric elective and trauma services. We are a busy unit, well-supported with Nurse Practitioners and Orthogeriatricians with many research and audit opportunities. Previous fellows have achieved a high conversion rate to CT and Specialist Training programmes. 

This post may be suitable for those wishing to undertake an “F3” role. Please note that these posts do not carry Postgraduate Dean’s approval or training recognition.  

Main duties of the job

This role will work as part of the Trauma & Orthopaedic surgical team here at Cambridge University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. This role will consist of a mixture of ward based and emergency care. There will be opportunities for the post holder to participate in clinics and attend theatre alongside senior colleagues.  

In order to be considered for this role applicants must have completed a foundation programme or equivalent and have at least 4 months NHS experience in a relevant surgical specialty.

Full Registration and a Licence to Practice with the General Medical Council at time of application is required.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

All sub-specialties within Orthopaedics are represented apart from tumour surgery and you will have exposure to a varied case mix including pelvic and acetabular, lower and upper limb elective, paediatric orthopaedic, scoliosis and arthroscopic surgery of the hip, shoulder and knee in addition to the spectrum of complex trauma. We are supported by an Orthogeriatric team, Trauma Co-ordinators and Nurse Practitioners.

This post operates on a Full Shift rota. There is an active research and audit ethos within the department with lots of internal teaching and courses.
