Job overview

Applications are invited for the post of Clinical Fellow Higher (ST6+/Senior) in Urology (Stones) to commence from 1st April 2025 until 30th September 2025.

The post holder will be exposed to all aspects of endourological surgery, gaining experience in all aspects of stone disease including ESWL, ureteroscopy for stones and urothelial carcinoma and PCNL as well as metabolic stone disease. There will be opportunities for exposure to other aspects of urology including bladder outlet surgery. 

Main duties of the job

In order to be considered applicants must meet the essential criteria outlined in the person specification and have:

•    MRCS or equivalent qualification. 
•    Completed a minimum of five years Specialty Registrar or equivalent training in Urology in the UK or equivalent.

The post-holder will participate in a middle grade, non-resident 1 in 9 on-call rota.

Please note that this post does not carry Postgraduate Dean’s approval or training recognition.

Full Registration and a Licence to Practice with the General Medical Council at point of application is required.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

The purpose of this post is to provide specialist training and competencies in the surgical management of kidney cancer and stone disease, experience in subspecialist clinics and engagement in high-impact translational research. 

The post is open to all levels of Senior Doctor. We would expect the candidate to be able to operate independently on general urology cases such as general endoscopic urological procedures such as cystoscopy, ureteric stent insertion and scrotal exploration, although consultant support is always provided. Audit and research work would be supported and encouraged.
