This position offers an exiting opportunity for an ambitious, highly enthusiastic, and motivated Drama/ Art Therapist who can place patients' needs at the centre of their clinical work and who is interested in delivering effective, innovative Drama or Art Therapy approaches within relevant specialist areas.
The Arts Therapies Service is managed by an Arts Therapies Professional Lead, it is an outward facing Service taking referrals for patients where a clear clinical need for non-verbal therapy is identified. The post offers opportunities specific to Children’s, Adults and Older Peoples Services both in acute and community settings.
Please note for this role you will be required to travel independently around the county meeting strict time deadlines. You will need to hold a full UK driving licence* and have use of a vehicle. You cannot use public transport for this role as this is not a reliable form of transport and will not allow you to meet service needs. Main duties of the job
The main duties of this post include accepting referrals and providing Therapy assessments from across services and pathways and providing an in-reach clinical services of Drama or Art Therapy as required by the Arts Therapies Professional Lead. This includes the provision of individual and group therapy sessions for wards and community services.
The post holder will also be active in developing the evidence base for their work through the use of outcome measures and clinical audit and will be expected to work as an integral part of the Arts Therapies team as well as establishing and maintaining professional relationships within relevant multi-disciplinary teams.
The post holder will be line managed by the Professional Lead of the Arts Therapies Service and supported by a structure of meetings and clinical supervision.
Arts Therapies at CPFT covers broad localities and travel will be required particularly between Cambridge and Peterborough on at least 1 day a week.

To participate in the delivery of Drama/Art Therapy under the guidance of specialist band 7 Arts Therapist and the Lead Arts Therapist by managing a caseload of clients.
To maintain professional standards in accordance with the relevant professional body BADTHA/BAAT and the professional regulator (Health and Care Professions Council)
To participate in audit, service evaluation and research activities when required.
The post holder will demonstrate specialist knowledge and skills and have undertaken appropriate post registration training.
To be proficient in the assessment, identification, treatment and management of the emotional and psychological needs of the population requiring prolonged, in-depth concentration. This includes risk assessment, assessment of complex conditions.
To frequently communicate and receive highly complex sensitive information with people; who have experienced trauma/abuse /highly complex needs; their relatives/carers and other professionals.
To have the specialist knowledge / skill to apply psychodynamic formulations and theory to work with individuals, groups and organizations.

Education/Qualifications
Essential criteria
- Degree or equivalent in Art or Drama
- Professional Qualification in Art Therapy/Dramatherapy at Master’s level or equivalent
Desirable criteria
- Membership of a special interest group
- Evidence of relevant post registration training
Experience
Essential criteria
- Experience of working in mental health
- Experience of managing own caseload and prioritising effectively
- Experience of Drama/Art Therapy individual assessment and intervention relevant to Mental Health
Skills & Abilities
Essential criteria
- Good communication skills, capable of conveying and receiving complex and sensitive information within emotive contexts
- Ability to engage in effective clinical supervision and practice and provide student supervision.
- Ability to provide services in a variety of environments to meet the needs of the patient
Desirable criteria
- Abilities in providing arts therapies across all ages
- Skills in providing group work
Knowledge & Understanding
Essential criteria
- A strong understanding of arts therapies theory in relation to clinical area and modality, informed by research and practice based evidence
- Understanding of a range of contemporary professional approaches, including the role of education and self management in recovery, and the ability to integrate this into professional perspective
- Knowledge and understanding of research methodology and outcome measurement
Desirable criteria
- Lived experience of mental health

Essential criteria
- Ability to travel across the county to deliver services and attend training and meetings
