An exciting opportunity to join CPFTs Learning and Organisational Development Team on a 12 month fixed term contract to cover senior management secondment periods. 

The Learning and Organisational Development Team are key components in the work of CPFT, with the primary responsibility and function of supporting a safe, responsive and effective workforce and developing the skill and knowledge of CPFT staff based on the best practice available in line with the supporting the Trust culture and values. The department also plays a key role in developing capability and capacity across the Trust.

Main duties of the job

To support the Associate Director of Leadership, OD & Learning to provide an outstanding learning & organisational development service and specialist, professional advice to the Trust. To maintain and develop key relationships internally to the Trust across all directorates to enable our workforce to provide high quality patient care.

Responsibility for a collaborative and cohesive approach to our wider stakeholder partnerships across the ICS and region to ensure our statutory obligations are met to a high standard. 

This role specifically aims to ensure a number of key project elements are progressed and delivered in relation to business planning, contract management and efficiencies across the L&OD team.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

  1. To engage all sub-teams within the L&OD team to work towards common goals and align business processes and evaluation techniques
  2. Monitoring and measuring Trust compliance for training and development programmes
  3. To deliver punctual and precise contract management, reporting to NHSE and financial management for SLAs
  4. Building effective, positive and collaborative working relationships with managers and staff to embed and promote compassionate leadership and ways of working
  5. Supporting the AD of L&OD to deliver the Trust’s strategic objective to offer the best staff experience in the NHS.
  6. Managing any equality and diversity issues and questions that may arise.
  7. To work flexibly across multiple sites as required by business need.
  8. Embed the Trust’s values and behaviours, working with staff, managers, key stakeholders and partners.
  9. To work with learning and development colleagues to develop our wider and cohesive offer to staff, helping to maximise their and our potential.
  10. To provide advice and support on L&OD methodology and tools to support the Trust to evolve.
  11. Embed the PRIDE Values in all L&OD activity aligned to Well Led governance, the NHS People Plan and the NHS Long Term Workforce Plan.
  12. Maintain, monitor, review and oversee L&OD business plans to ensure current and future relevance.
  13. Evaluate the quality, impact and return on investment of offering, producing quarterly and annual reports and metrics as appropriate.

Person specification

Education & Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Educated to Masters level or equivalent knowledge and experience in relevant field, ie HR management, Learning & Development, Workforce Education, Organisational Development, CIPD.
  • Evidence of continued professional development
Desirable criteria
  • Project Management qualification
  • CIPD Member
  • Qualified Coach

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Proven experience and exposure to a range of leadership and organisational development issues.
  • Strong track record of planning and evaluating L&OD interventions.
  • Experience of managing high performing and efficient teams in a compassionate way
  • Experience of supporting others through change and identifying opportunities to support and embed culture change and quality improvement.
  • Proven ability to influence, inspire and effectively manage staff.
Desirable criteria
  • Experienced at developing initiatives using the 70-20-10 learning philosophy.
  • Experience of delivering / supporting the delivery of programmes.

Knowledge and Skills

Essential criteria
  • Excellent inter-personal skills with the ability to influence and develop positive working relationships at all levels (Internal & External)
  • Skilled in using a range of programme management models and business planning tools
  • Highly effective presentation and organisational skills.
  • Strong analytical, problem solving, report writing and decision-making skills.
  • Skilled in using Microsoft Teams and Zoom to deliver interactive training, evaluations and meetings.
  • Skilled at interpreting complex information and data to develop impactful presentations and reports
Desirable criteria
  • Knowledge of the NHS People Plan. People Promise and the Long Term Workforce Plan
  • Knowledge and experience of project and programme management and measuring impact.
