Are you an experienced HR professional looking for you next challenge? We have a great opportunity for a HR Advisor to join our team for 12 months covering maternity leave of the current post holder.
Main duties of the job
As a HR Advisor, you will provide a generalist Human Resources (HR) service to the Trust as part of the Operational HR Team. You will play a key role in providing expert advice and support across the Trust on all aspects of HR including employee relations, terms and conditions and policy implementation. You will work closely with managers to ensure best practice is followed and help create a positive and inclusive workplace culture.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

1. Ensure that employee relations issues are managed effectively by managers to reflect the Trust’s commitment to people as their most important asset.
2. Provide support to managers in decision making, balancing risks, and ensuring appropriate consideration is given to both effective service delivery and protecting Trust’s reputation.
3. Interpret and advise managers on the application of, and compliance with Trust HR policies and procedures.
4. Interpret and advise managers on the application of terms and conditions of employment, ensuring compliance with Trust HR policies and employment legislation.
5. Proactively identify areas of continuous improvement and support managers in the implementation of initiatives to improve service delivery and achieving Key
Performance Indicators through utilising Workforce information.
6. Develop and maintain effective communication and negotiation arrangements with staff side representatives as appropriate.
7. Support HR Business Partners with consultations e.g. attending launch meetings, 1-1 meetings where required and supporting with the redeployment process if applicable.
8. To undertake HR Investigations as and when required.
9. Review supporting mechanisms in place for staff to ensure they are fair, effective, and fit for purpose, advising managers as appropriate. e.g. working alongside Occupational Health and Staff Wellbeing Service.
10. Ensure management compliance with Employment Legislation and proactively advise the appropriate manager(s) of the implications of new legislation.
11. Advocate compliance with Equal Opportunity and Diversity legislation. This includes ensuring processes are in place to monitor the application and impact of policies and procedures.
12. Support managers in workforce utilisation to improve both individual, team and organisational performance.
13. Contribute to Trust’s resourcing strategy and workforce plan to ensure that the
Directorate's operational business plan can be delivered by the right people, in the right place, at the right time.
14. Ensure that effective processes are established, monitored and reviewed which support the retention of staff.
Person specification
Education & Qualification
Essential criteria
- GCSE Level 4 and above in Math’s/ English or Equivalent.
- CIPD Level 3.
- Currently working towards CIPD Level 5 or ability to demonstrate relevant training or experience.
Desirable criteria
- CIPD Level 7.
Experience
Essential criteria
- Experience of working in an HR environment.
- Employee relations experience.
Desirable criteria
- NHS experience.
- Experience working in a complex, unionised organisation.
