Job overview
An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Diabetes and Endocrinology Department within the Medicine Business Unit. We are looking to recruit an enthusiastic and motivated individual to join our very busy and dedicated admin team.
The successful candidate will provide administrative support to Consultants and their medical team within the Department and also ensuring the provision of an effective service.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will be expected to perform a high level of secretarial and administration tasks within the Diabetes & Endocrinology Department. You will need to be able to work efficiently and accurately and work flexibly and confidentially across the Trust independently and as part of a team liaising with colleagues at all levels.
You will have good communication skills and will be responsive to the needs of the service. You will be a point of contact for patients, speciality teams and other departments for all enquiries relating to patients. You will be responsible for the tracking of patient pathways in accordance with the National targets.

Education and Qualifications
Essential criteria
- Educated to GCSE level A-C standard incl. Maths and English or equivalent experience
Desirable criteria
- NVQ Level 2 in Business Administration or Customer Service or equivalent experience or willing to undertake NVQ level 2
Experience
Essential criteria
- Experience of meeting regular targets and deadlines
- Experience of customer service in a healthcare environment e.g. reception, call centre, administration
Desirable criteria
- Experience of working in a health care environment
- Experience of using hospital systems including PAS, e-track, ICE
- Experience of hospital outpatient administration processes
Key Skills/Abilities
Essential criteria
- Knowledge and understanding of Data Protection, Patient Confidentiality and Information Governance
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office products including excel, word and outlook.
Desirable criteria
- NHS Administration Services & Processes
- Understanding or awareness of national and local OP targets including 18 week RTT and Cancer targets.
- Knowledge of Hospital PAS Outpatient Clinic make-up.
