Are you an innovative midwife with a passion to deliver a high standard women-centred care?

The Outpatients services team is offering the great chance for you to join them and support the expansion of the complex antenatal care pathways at North West Anglia Foundation Trust. You will be a valued  member of the team based at Hinchingbrooke Hospital.

With a special interest in the complex antenatal care, you will use your midwifery experience in delivering outstanding evidence based care to women living within our local communities. You clinical knowledge and skills of referrals, clinical pathways, anatomy, physiology and pathophysiology affecting pregnancy and child birth will add great value to the team.

You will be supported by a diverse multi-professional team committed to provide the safest, personalised care to women whose pregnancies have been complicated by underlying or newly diagnosed health concerns. whilst working alongside the department manager ensuring the smooth running of all antenatal pathways. In addition, you will support the maternity helpline to contribute to the Trusts priority of maintaining safe triage pathways.

You will be in charge of the day to day running of the antenatal outpatient's department, and the co-ordination of antenatal department in absence of department manager.

You will work in conjunction with Obstetricians, inpatient ward managers and the wider MDT to ensure that women receive outstanding, co-ordinated care that is personalised and safe.

As well as being and advocate for women and babies receiving care, you will act as a point of contact for all those who seek information regarding the antenatal outpatient services and will promote health education for the women and their families at all times.

We will support and encourage you to pursue research initiatives in helping shape the future of maternity services in line with current clinical and academic evidence, national standards and relevant reports.

  • To maintain NMC registration and ensure that Revalidation is up to date.
  • To practice in accordance with the NMC Code.
  • To ensure that Trust guidelines are adhered to.
  • To promote and maintain standards of professional practice in order to enhance quality of care for clients
  • To work within agreed guidelines, policies and professional scope of practice.
  • To ensure clear and professional communication, maintaining confidentiality.
  • To maintain legible and contemporaneous records at all times, reflecting the management of care.
  • To be aware of the Data Protection Act and confidentiality rules.

  • To maintain personal a clinical expertise throughout clinical practice and NMC requirements.
  • To assess, plan and support development and education training needs within the midwifery team, in consultation with the band 7 and clinical practice education team.
  • To participate in department based training that is dynamic and meets the needs of the specific area in order to maintain a high standard of care
  • To act as a clinical practice supervisor for student and newly qualified midwives ensuring that they are able to meet their objectives through the formulation of learning contracts.
  • To collaborate and communicate with the antenatal team to discuss and support any day to day operational management issues.
  • To promote effective communications and relationships at all times both within and external to the Outpatients Department and Trust.
  • To encourage individual team members to communicate with one another and work together as a team to maintain optimum efficiency.
  • To participate in regular Team Meetings and to ensure they are aware of any new initiatives or procedures.
  • To communicate in a receptive and informative manner to all enquiries to the service.
  • To maintain effective communication with all persons both within and external to the Trust in line with confidentiality and information governance.
  • To maintain accurate records, write reports; contribute to team meetings and liaise with other agencies and professionals.
