We are looking for a midwife who is passionate, enthusiastic and skilled in intrapartum care to work collaboratively with our multidisciplinary team of Obstetricians, Anaesthetist, Theatres, SCBU, Labour Ward coordinators and Intrapartum Lead Midwife in providing clinical, operational ad managerial leadership. 

The successful candidate must be committed to continuous quality improvement, be able to participate in the development of guidelines, complete Audit and support the delivery of safe, effective and personalised care.

This post will provide the clinical and managerial leadership alongside the Intrapartum Lead Midwife taking responsibility for providing a clear focus for the profession and effective clinical leadership and accountability for the service. 

You will be responsible for the line management of staff and ensuring they uphold the Trust and Professional values. Working in collaboration with the Intrapartum Lead Midwife you will be expected to participate in the development of the service in line with national and local agendas, and  the delivery of performance targets

You will have responsibility to line manage staff and support their development alongside the wider multidisciplinary team. You will be expected to provide clinical advice and care within the clinical area.

  • Evidence of 3 years sound clinical midwifery experience
  • Experience in all areas of Midwifery, with evidence of recent comprehensive Labour Ward experience as a Coordinator
  • Demonstrates leadership skills and initiative
  • Evidence of participation in risk and clinical governance agendas

  • Experience of management of a team

Knowledge

  • Knowledge of Child Protection issues
  • Clinical Skills i.e. Perineal suturing, IV Cannulation, NALS
