Job overview

CAMEO is an award-winning  Early Intervention in psychosis service in Cambridge and Peterborough Foundation Trust (CPFT) offering a three year pathway with an integrated ARMS service  to people aged 14 - 65 years.

Established in 2002, CAMEO is a well-developed EI  service that has had a significant impact on the development of the Early Intervention model across the UK and internationally. The service has excellent links with several academic institutions and continues to be involved in several multicentre research studies with ongoing opportunities for research, training, and service development work.  

The service operates from two team bases; one in Cambridge and one in Peterborough. This job is to work in the Peterborough base covering a multi cultural and diverse local population.

Main duties of the job

An opportunity has arisen to recruit an experienced  mental health practitioner to lead a motivated & committed team of professionals within Cameo.

The post holder will be responsible for the clinical management of the Cameo Service with the support of the senior team. 

The post is based in Peterborough but will include cross country cover when needed. This will include effective clinical leadership. You will work very  closely with an operational lead who will lead on workforce issues and management of human and budgetary resources. You will help ensure the service operates evidence based practice within the community setting as well as evident ability to co-ordinate varying tasks in care delivery and manage unplanned challenges.

The successful candidate will work with the Cameo Service Manager in fully implementing the NHS Plan, NICE Quality Standards for Early Intervention in Psychosis Services and delivering the Trusts strategic objectives.

The post holder will ensure the Early Intervention model, approaches and ethos are adhered to.

This post is predominately Monday – Friday 9am – 5pm, some flexibility is expected in line with role and responsibility.

  • To be a team leader supporting the workforce  in the delivery of a high quality clinical  service within the remit of the EI model and within legislative constraints.
  • To ensure staff receive supervision and appropriate career development support and that  service KPI's and national audit requirements are met. You will work closely with the team operational lead to achieve this. 
  • To have a positive attitude to innovation and experience of working with research colleagues .
  • To actively engage with and represent the Cameo service across the EIP Regional and National community.
  • You will be committed to ongoing service and clinical development inclusive of service user / carer involvement .
  • You will share  budgetary and  financial  sign off responsibilities. 
  • There will opportunities for you to have some clinical involvement to  enhance and maintain your own clinical skills. 

Person specification

Education /Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Evidence of continuous professional development
  • Registered Nurse/Occupational Therapist/Clinical Psychologist/Social Work qualification
  • NMC or HCPC registered
Desirable criteria
  • Management or leadership qualification

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Experience of working alongside people with complex health problems within the designated care group.
  • Experience in leadership / management role within mental health setting
  • Extensive experience of providing a range of clinical interventions to people in the designated care group with a variety of health problems
Desirable criteria
  • Experience of working with young people
  • Lived experience of mental health
  • Experience of working within an Early Intervention in Psychosis service

Knowledge & Skills

Essential criteria
  • Ability to contribute to service development and strong ability to innovate and manage change
  • Evidence of excellent ability to positively role model and skills to innovate, empower, develop and shape behaviours in others
  • Excellent negotiation and conflict resolution skills
Desirable criteria
  • Ability to develop and lead new initiatives within the clinical care environment
