Advanced Pharmacist - SACT - Peterborough

Band 8a

Job overview

Following a successful business case, we are pleased to invite applications for an Advanced Pharmacist, SACT - a new position within a well-established pharmacy cancer services team.  The post will primarily be based at Peterborough City Hospital although you may be required to travel to other sites within North West Anglia NHS Foundation Trust.

We are looking for a highly motivated and enthusiastic pharmacist who has both clinical and leadership experience within oncology and haemato-oncology. You will lead and operationally manage a team of pharmacists, technicians and support staff offering a clinical service across the haematology/oncology ward and day unit, and liaising with the clinical trials and aseptics teams at Peterborough City Hospital.

This post attracts the Trust welcome bonus of £1000 payable in one instalment on commencement.  Should you leave prior to 6 months you will be required to repay the full instalment and should you leave within 12 and 18 months of employment you will be required to repay £500. A copy of our ‘Refer a Friend’ and ‘Welcome Payment’ is enclosed, which gives full details.

Main duties of the job

The pharmacy cancer team is integrated within the cancer division, with a satellite pharmacy at the heart of the haematology/oncology outpatient department enabling us to provide a high-quality pharmacy service to cancer patients. We are keen to develop a pharmacist prescriber role within our oncology outpatient clinics and so a non-medical prescriber qualification would be desirable.

You will ideally have project management or service improvement experience to help move forward the pharmacy agenda within the Trust’s cancer strategy. You will have excellent communication, organisational and time management skills and can demonstrate a high level of attention to detail.

 The post is full time (37.5 hours a week) with weekend and bank holiday working as part of a department-wide rota.

Working for our organisation

We are dedicated to fostering diversity and inclusivity within our workforce and warmly welcome applications from individuals of all backgrounds, with a particular emphasis on encouraging those from disabled, Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic (BAME) communities, as well as candidates from our local area.

As part of our commitment to supporting our employees we offer a range of benefits including:

  • Generous annual leave entitlement starting at 27 days and increasing to 29 days after five years of service and 33 days after 10 years of service, in addition to the national Bank Holidays (pro-rata for part time staff);
  • Membership of the NHS Pension Scheme:
  • Flexible working opportunities;
  • Enhanced hourly rates for unsociable hours e.g. night shifts, weekends, bank holidays;
  • Opportunities for career development and training to help you progress in your role;
  • Wellbeing support and activities to promote a healthy work environment;
  • Access to our in-house physiotherapy service;
  • On-site canteens offering subsidised meals;
  • Subsidised staff parking (currently free);
  • Free Stagecoach Bus Travel to and from work within Cambridgeshire and Peterborough

We strive to create a supportive and inclusive workplace where employees feel valued and empowered to excel in their roles.  Join us and become part of a team dedicated to making a positive difference in our community.
