Main duties of the job
As a Healthcare Assistant in this department, your role is varied and pivotal. We focus on delivering evidence-based, high-quality care to Trauma, Elective, and Rheumatology patients.
You will collaborate with a multi-disciplinary team in the Orthopaedic and Rheumatology outpatient department, ensuring the smooth operation of Trauma, Elective, and Rheumatology clinics, as well as the plaster room and minor operations procedure room. Our patients range from children to adults, and your responsibility will be to provide compassionate, high-quality care always prioritising patient welfare. Occasional cross-site work at Hinchingbrooke Hospital and support for inpatient wards are also integral parts of this role.

Education & Qualifications
Essential criteria
- Literacy and numeracy skills - grade C or above in GCSE Maths and English
Desirable criteria
- NVQ Level 2 in Health related subject
- Completion of care certificate
Skills
Essential criteria
- Willingness to embrace change to meet the needs of a busy Orthopaedic and Rheumatology OPD
- Can demonstrate good interpersonal skills
- Understands and practises confidentiality at all times
- Ability to work effectively in a busy environment
- Ability to use initiative to make a decision within sphere of work and/or knowledge recognising where advice, assistance or direction is required from senior colleagues
- A team player able to work well with others and demonstrate commitment to team objectives
- A positive approach to customer care with the ability to establish and maintain good relationships and exercise patience and compassion

Experience
Essential criteria
- Demonstrate evidence of wanting to work in a caring environment
- Previous experience working as part of a team

- Has previous experience working within an outpatient setting or within an acute hospital
- Understands and has insight into the role and skills of a carer
- Previous experience working with the public, in a public facing role
- Able to competently use a computer and IT systems
