Job overview

Are you a  dynamic, experienced, enthusiastic, motivated Band 6 or band 7 critical care (or equivalent) nurses who is dedicated to delivering excellent patient care outside the critical care area, who has an interest in education and quality improvement? 

 As a Band 7 Critical Care Outreach Nurse Practitioner, you will support the Trust in the delivery of effective, responsive and compassionate care for deteriorating adult patients. You will be responsible for supporting the team with the focus on early recognition of deterioration, timely escalation of care and treatment whilst developing the deteriorating patient care skills within the Trust

Main duties of the job

You must be able to use your advanced knowledge skills and expertise to provide clinical assessment, treatment and management plans for this group of patients. You will be required to work closely with the Critical Care multidisciplinary team and ward teams to provide the best outcome for patients. As a senior nurse within the trust you will also provide leadership for staff and contribute to education and training within your field of expertise. This post is also a Resuscitation team member with the expectation of becoming an ALS provider.

Do you have at least 2 years band 6 experience within an acute environment?  Can you stay calm under pressure and have a positive influence on staff and your patient outcome in challenging situations? There will be an opportunity for rotation to the Critical Care Unit to maintain skills and the post holder will be required to work at either site (Hinchingbrooke and Peterborough) as the services develop and become aligned. The post will initially be based in Peterborough.
