Executive Director of People
Executives / VSM: Executives / VSM
Job overview
North West Anglia NHS Foundation Trust was formed in April 2017. We run three acute sites Peterborough City, Hinchingbrooke and Stamford and Rutland Hospitals. In addition, we deliver outpatient and radiology services at Doddington Hospital, the Princess of Wales Hospital, Ely, and North Cambridgeshire Hospital, Wisbech.
We deliver acute care services to a growing catchment of approximately 900,000 residents living in Cambridgeshire, Lincolnshire and the neighbouring counties of Norfolk and Bedfordshire.
Team North West Anglia is made up of approximately 7,500 members of staff and is supported by an army of 400 volunteers who dedicate some of their free time to support hospital services mainly in patient-facing roles.
This is a really exciting time for patients and staff as we work with our local health system partners across Cambridgeshire, Peterborough, and South Lincolnshire to deliver some key development projects that will shape the care we provide for future generations. As well as building a new hospital at Hinchingbrooke and redeveloping our sites at Peterborough and Stamford to better meet the needs of patients, we are investing in a Trust-wide electronic patient record system and harnessing digital technology within our diagnostic services to enhance the quality and speed of diagnosis and treatment.
Main duties of the job
The Executive Director of People (EDOP) is a key role on the Board of Directors, which has been created as part of our ongoing drive to create significant strategic, cultural, and operational change at NWAFT. Our EDOP will be responsible for creating and delivering a workforce agenda that supports, empowers, and develops our staff to be the best they can be while ensuring delivery of outstanding patient care.
The NHS faces well known issues in recruiting and retaining staff and in this competitive environment, NWAFT aspires to be an acute hospital employer of choice. The EDOP will implement pathways to achieve our goal of attracting & retaining key talent, working with their fellow board members and our partners in the wider NHS community. They will identify opportunities to innovate across our workforce provision, understanding the issues and delivering solutions locally & across the system.
Working for our organisation
The best organisations reflect the diversity of the communities they serve. Therefore, we welcome applications from individuals of all backgrounds, particularly those from underrepresented groups. This includes people from Black, Asian, and minority ethnic communities, women, and individuals with disabilities who we know are underrepresented in these important leadership roles.
