Are you skilled in diplomacy, tact, and confidentiality? We are looking for a meticulous individual to join our General Surgery department as a Secretary. Your role will involve handling highly confidential documents and maintaining continual communication with internal and external stakeholders.

Main duties of the job

As a secretarial assistant, you will be the primary point of contact for all communication, requiring exceptional interpersonal skills. You will support the secretarial team, consultants, and their medical staff by providing efficient and flexible administrative assistance. Your duties will ensure the smooth operation of daily routines within the department, contributing to its efficiency and organisation.

You will also play a crucial role in ensuring patient pathways are responsive to patient needs and compliant with Trust, national, and local targets. Your commitment to providing an efficient and responsive service will directly impact the quality of care delivered within the department.

Education and Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • RSA II or equivalent experience in typing
  • Good general education, English Language to GCSE (or equivalent)
Desirable criteria
  • NVQ 2 in Business and Administration or equivalent experience
  • ECDL

Experience

  • Secretarial / administrative experience
  • Experience of audio typing
Desirable criteria
  • Experience of working in the NHS
  • Experience of using PAS (Patient Admissions System) database, e-Track
