Trosolwg o'r swydd

  • To identify which babies require screening.
  • To liaise effectively with parents, team members and other health care professionals.
  • To carry out the hearing screening of new-borns within the Maternity services and accurately record clinical and test data.
  • To promote a professional, welcoming and caring environment endorsing a Family Friendly approach to care.
  • To maintain up to date knowledge of procedures and policies relevant to this post.
  • To maintain the confidentiality of the babies and their families at all times.
  • To ensure the safety and security of equipment at all times and report any problems to the Hearing Screening local manager at the earliest opportunity.
  • To ensure patients and families retain their dignity, privacy and individuality at all times.
  • Be aware of child protection issues and adhere to local procedures

  • To promote a professional, welcoming, and caring environment endorsing a Family Friendly approach to care within a small team of new-born hearing screeners at Peterborough City Hospital.
  • This role encompasses work on a busy and dynamic postnatal care settings as well as the neonatal intensive care unit and community settings.
  • To provide the new-born hearing screening programme in line with the NHS screening commissioned services.
  • The post holder will be fully trained whilst undertaking the role and will be supported to complete a level 3 NVQ programme specific to the new-born hearing screening programme.

  • Educated to GCSE level standard grade C or above

  • Holds current Level 3 Diploma for Health Screeners

Experience

  • Experience of IT skills, and use of email systems
  • Experience of data entry

  • Background of working in health care settings
  • Previous experience of working within a hearing screener role

Skills and Abilities

  • Understanding of quality assurance and can apply this to clinical practice
  • Ability to be self-directing and prioritise workload
  • Ability to work methodically and with attention to detail
