The Outpatient Neuro Physiotherapy Team currently covers two sites with clinics at Peterborough City Hospital and Stamford Hospital. The team runs individual clinics as well as groups at both sites and regularly liaises with the Neurologists and MS Nurse Specialist and have input to a monthly Neuropsychiatry MDT meeting.
The Outpatient Neuro Physiotherapy Team is responsible for providing a quality service across both sites to a busy neurology out-patient department consisting of referrals from: local GP practices, Neurologists, MS and Parkinson’s Disease Nurse Specialist, Rehabilitation Consultants, and out of area hospitals including Addenbrookes and Sheffield Spinal Unit. We also provide vestibular rehabilitation, facial palsy rehabilitation and assessment for Functional Electrical Stimulation (FES) for foot drop.
The team is led by an Outpatient Therapy Team Manager, supported by a Highly Specialist Physiotherapist in Neurology, a Specialist Band 6 physiotherapist and experienced Band 4 Therapy Assistant Practitioner. Working closely with the Musculoskeletal, Pain management and Hand Therapy teams as well as the Orthotic team.

Main duties of the job
· To demonstrate neurological physiotherapy skills to manage patients referred to the service working in accordance with individual performance metrics
· To ensure safe, efficient and effective delivery of patient focussed care in line with identified evidence based practice, local and national standards
· To work collaboratively within Multidisciplinary and Multi-agency Teams
· To participate in delegated projects for service development with the team
· To act autonomously in the assessment and treatment of patients within the speciality who may have a complex presentation
· To demonstrate a flexible approach to working in support of the whole in patient/outpatient team
· To undertake weekend working as required within the neurological service
· To be available to provide Clinical Supervision
· This role entails 90% Clinical Contact and 10% Operational Management as appropriate within team requirements
· To guide Band 5 and support staff in the management and delivery of therapeutic care plans

- Degree/Diploma in Physiotherapy
- HCPC Registered
- Evidence of Continued Professional Development

- CSP member according to profession
Experience
Essential criteria
- Wide variety of band 5 rotations
- Acute Hospital Experience
- Experience of working within a neurology setting
Desirable criteria
- Experience of managing staff
Knowledge
Essential criteria
- Sound level of theoretical knowledge within the field of neurology
- Basic knowledge of the multi-disciplinary team
- Experience in the use of basic IT systems for data recording
