Due to promotion of the postholder, we have an exciting opportunity for a Pharmacy Technician, Procurement & Distribution, to work in this key area of our Pharmacy service. We are looking for a forward-thinking individual who is ready to take the next step in their pharmacy career. You will join an experienced and dynamic procurement team and be responsible for the day to day running of the pharmacy procurement service at Velindre Cancer Centre. 

Applicants must have excellent communication and organisational skills, attention to detail and be a team player. Experience in oncology/hospital is welcomed, however not essential for this role. You will be part of an already strong and established team who will provide you with all the support and training required for you to truly excel within this role. There will be ongoing opportunities within this role for future development, to help the successful candidate reach their full potential as a registered pharmacy technician.

 

Main duties of the job

To be responsible for the procurement, receipt, storage, distribution of pharmaceuticals within and from the pharmacy and associated duties

To provide information and advice on availability and supply of pharmaceutical products.

To provide a distribution service for all pharmacy items to designated wards(s), following the agreed pharmacy distribution procedures.

To participate in dispensing of medicines to in-patient, out-patient and day patients.

To participate in the services to manufacture, repackage and aseptically prepare pharmaceuticals, including cytotoxic preparations.

To be a super user for the Mediwell dispensing robots within Velindre Cancer Centre

To provide support and cover to the Senior Pharmacy Technician, Procurement & Distribution in co-coordinating the logistics service, staff training and supervision of duties.

To act as NVQ Assessor for training within the Purchasing and Distribution section.

Provides advice to patients/carers on pharmaceutical products and further supplies

Supervises and supports staff involved in the logistic component of pharmacy

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.
