Job overview
NHS Wales' Procurement Strategy sets the vision and direction of Procurement Services in "Delivering value for NHS Wales through people centred services" by providing a world class service to support the Health Boards and Trusts in their delivery of patient care. NHS Wales Shared Services Procurement Department is responsible for delivering a holistic Procure to Pay process to all Health Boards/Trusts in Wales.
Main duties of the job
An opportunity has arisen to join this existing and dynamic organisation based in the Hywel Dda Frontline Procurement Team.
As part of the frontline team, you will be a key team member responsible for delivering the NWSSP Procurement Strategy and supporting the Health Board in the delivery of their strategic aims.

Qualifications
Essential criteria
- Qualified to CIPS Level 4 (Diploma) or equivalent CIPS Knowledge / Experience which can be demonstrated
- Ability to be able to define your understanding of: •Category management •Risk management •What the business needs are across the procurement services • Delivering value for money •The whole supply chain process •Key performance indicators •E-procurement •The need for compliance •Legal requirements of a contract
Desirable criteria
- ILM Level 3, other management qualifications or working towards a management qualification
- Knowledge of Health Boards and Trusts Procurement processes/ procedures
Skills and Experience
Essential criteria
- Proven experience of delivering complex procurement projects: •Assessment of business need •Evidence of tendering •Specification writing •Evaluation criteria •Contract award reports •Contract management •Implementation of contracts •Engaging key stakeholders
- Experience of managing multiple projects simultaneously
- Ability to drive and lead a comprehensive data gathering on products and suppliers.
Desirable criteria
- Demonstrate experience of contributing to the business planning processes; assisting development of a contract plan and savings plan
- Experience of people / staff supervision / management – preferably management experience within a procurement or supply environment.
- Ability to be able to understand a range of complex category product knowledge that is relevant to NHS Wales customers
