Trosolwg o'r swydd

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a permanent Band 8a AHP Lead for the Welsh Neuropsychiatry Service, University Hospital Llandough.  

The Clinical Lead will act as professional leader for Therapies staff at clinical, operational and strategic levels and make sure our contribution to implementing national and local service improvement is well defined and that services have a positive impact on the recovery, health and well-being for patients.

Applications are welcomed from people with  expert knowledge and skills in therapeutic aspects of Neuropsychiatry management, developing cross professional and organisational working practices and integrating research evidence into practice.

 The post holder will act as Clinical Lead, ensuring the continued development and maintenance of their clinical and professional skills. Co-ordinating a specialist team providing a comprehensive therapy service to Welsh Neuropsychiatry Services.  Supporting the therapists to deliver highly specialist assessment, treatment and evaluation of outcomes to patients. The post holder will be a will be expected to provide multi-professional education and training.

The Service is a specialist tertiary mental health service for people who have suffered a serious acquired brain injury,  providing a comprehensive resource for the assessment, investigation, management and rehabilitation for those suffering with neuropsychiatric, cognitive, emotional and behavioural difficulties as a result of the injury.

 

Prif ddyletswyddau'r swydd

The Welsh Neuropsychiatry Service is commissioned by the NHS Wales Joint Commissioning Committee (NWJCC), which is a joint committee of the seven Health Boards acting collectively on their behalf. The service is hosted by Cardiff and Vale UHB and sits within the Mental Health Clinical Board, based at Hafan y Coed, University Hospital Llandough.

The service is comprised of:

  • 10 bedded inpatient specialist rehabilitation service plus one longer term placement
  • A Day and Community Service operating from the same site providing a structured programme of MDT assessment and neuropsychiatric rehabilitation. There is a focus to deliver intervention closer to home to support recovery and adjustment
  • Specialist outpatient clinics


Patients  represent the most complex in behavioural, emotional and neuropsychiatric need and we aim to optimise physical, cognitive, communication and occupational recovery within a person centred and inter-disciplinary approach, working closely with other services and the patient’s support networks. 

The highly specialist multi-disciplinary team comprises representation from a full complement of disciplines including medical, nursing, psychology, speech & language therapy, physiotherapy, occupational therapy, rehabilitation support team and dedicated administration support.

 

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.
