Public Health Wales is seeking an exceptional leader to take on the significant Board role of Executive Director of Quality and Nursing. As a strong strategic leader, this position is critical for driving the strategic leadership and operational support for quality, improvement and integrated governance within our organisation.
Main duties of the job
This is an exciting role at a time where we are continuing our journey of enabling governance and quality improvement across all of our teams. With responsibilities that include integrated governance and risk management, improvement and innovation, safeguarding, infection prevention and control, as well as the professional leadership of our nursing and midwifery workforce, you will be a key member of our Executive Team and Board and will play a significant role in shaping the future of public health in Wales. You will also be working closely with the Chief Nursing Officer for Wales, and peers across Wales, in helping to provide national support to drive a public health approach across NHS services.

Qualifications
Essential criteria
- Educated to Masters level or equivalent experience
- Current registration as a nurse, midwife or SCPHN with the Nursing and Midwifery Council
Experience
Essential criteria
- Experience of operating effectively at a strategic level within a health commissioning or providing organisation
- Proven experience of working and contributing at Board level
- Significant experience in the professional development needs and supervisory requirements of nurses and midwives
- Significant experience in corporate governance and risk management and in embedding these within an organisation
- Demonstrable experience in leading and managing complex change and project management
- Demonstrable experience in the effective operational management of large dispersed teams of staff to deliver priorities
Skills and Knowledge
Essential criteria
- Extensive knowledge of the professional nursing agenda and demonstrable experience of implementing improvements in nursing quality
