Job overview

This is a fixed term/secondment post until 31/07/2025.

If you are a Hywel Dda University Health Board employee and are applying for this post as a secondment, agreement for the secondment is needed from your current manager prior to application.

We are currently looking to employ part-time members of staff to join our busy catering team at Bronglais Hospital, to assist with the daily preparation and service of both patient and staff meals.

You will also be assisting the team in the daily cleaning tasks. There may also be an opportunity to work in the staff dining room.  

The successful candidates will need to be hard working, and willing to work as part of a team. 

Working patterns will be between the hours of 07:00 - 20:00. These shifts will include some weekend & bank holiday work.  

Main duties of the job

To provide Catering Services to all users of the department. 

The candidate should be able to work as part of a team and communicate well with colleagues, staff and visitors alike.

You will need to work within the hospital's policies and procedures and uphold the values of the hospital at all times.

Hywel Dda University Health Board is the planner and provider of NHS healthcare services for people in Carmarthenshire, Ceredigion, Pembrokeshire and its bordering counties. 48 General Practices (GP surgeries), 49 Dental Practices, 98 Community Pharmacies (chemists), 44 General Ophthalmic Practices (including eye health and low vision services), 38 sites providing mental health and learning disability services, care within your own homes
Highly specialised and tertiary services commissioned by the Welsh Health Specialised Services Committee, a joint committee representing seven health boards across Wales.

Essential criteria
  • Literate and numerate
  • Basic Health & Safety, COSHH, moving and handling (on the job training)
  • Food Safety Level 2 or Equivalent

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Experience in working in hospitality or kitchen environment.
Desirable criteria
  • Experience in working in a large scale kitchen environment.
  • Experience of dealing with the general public.
