Job overview

This is a new post and you will join colleagues in a very dynamic and forward looking Cardiology and General Medicine team. The successful candidate will be expected to have specialty training and relevant experience in cardiology and should be on the GMC specialist register for cardiology (or be eligible for inclusion on the register within six months of the interview date) and have full MRCP or equivalent.

You would work in both the acute, secondary care setting and in the community as required supporting the innovative and exciting work occurring outside of the acute hospital.

You would also take part in the acute medical inpatient service for all adult age groups and be part of the general medical on call rota (currently 1:10).

The successful candidate will join two substantive cardiology consultants. We are looking for a colleague who will be committed to providing a high level of clinical care and who, as a senior member of the Health Board, will have the leadership skills needed to work in close co-operation with and in support of clinical, medical and managerial colleagues to ensure high quality, sustainable healthcare to all patients in Mid Wales.

Main duties of the job

The post-holder would be expected to develop, deliver and support an evidence-based outpatient service that addresses the aims of the Health Board to maintain health, and not merely reactively respond to the requests of primary care.

It is expected that the post-holder will engage pro-actively with primary care colleagues to ensure maximal impact for the resources used in cardiac investigations and clinics. To achieve this, specific time is set aside in the job plan for the purpose of demand management and the development of processes that maximise impact of intervention on the population, avoiding the provision of clinics visits that are unlikely to meaningfully affect clinical care or outcomes.
