Job overview

This post is fixed term/secondment until 03/04/26 due to the needs of the service. 

If you are a Hywel Dda University Health Board employee and are applying for this post as a secondment, agreement for the secondment is needed from your current manager prior to application.

This is a development post to support the progression on to the Specialist Community Public Health Nursing Degree. The post holder will work as part of a skill mix team with the Health Visiting Team and will support the delivery of the Healthy Child Wales Programme from 0-5 years old.  As a registered Nurse within the Health Visiting Service, this  post will primarily cover Ceredigion.  

Hywel Dda delivers on the criteria set by the Welsh Government Healthy Child Programme and the Baby Friendly Initiative.

The post holder will support the Baby friendly initiative, deliver health promotion advice, facilitate healthy baby clinics, complete delegated developmental assessments, and participate in training to support further learning.

The post holder will work collaboratively and in partnership with other disciplines and agencies to improve the health and wellbeing of individuals, families and communities.

Main duties of the job

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a part time Registered Nurse who may be considering applying to undertake a SCPHN programme and wishes to develop their skills and gain experience of working within the Generic Health Visiting skill mix team based in Ceredigion. 

The post holder will need to be committed to developing a high degree of standards of care and actively seek and promote professional working relationships with other statutory and voluntary practitioners.

The positive attitude to team working is essential.

The post holder will be responsible for delivering components of the Health Visiting Core programmes to families with pre-school children and the communities they live in as delegated by the Health Visitor.

In order to apply you will need to possess a Registered Children Nurse Qualification or an Adult Registered Nurse Qualification.

The ability to travel between sites in a timely manner is an essential part of this role, please demonstrate your ability to fulfil this criteria in your application.

The post holder will be responsible for the assessment of health needs and the development, implementation and evaluation of programmes of care to meet the needs of the child and their family.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.
